Approximately 12 hours after the conclusion of "Sometimes a Great Notion" it occurred to me that I needed to get on with my life.  I was still reeling from the many surprises when I remembered it was almost time for the start of the BSG Prop Auction.  I registered with the site, logged in, and settled back to wait to bid on something.  I had saved what I thought was a nice chunk of change, certainly nothing to brag about but certainly enough to outbid some poor schlub for a single piece of production art or Doc Cottle's cigarette case.  How wrong I was!  The auctions were routinely closing for 2 - 3 times the estimated price and, even if I had that kind of funding, it would have been hard to rationalize most of the purchases.  So, I sat at the computer nearly as dumbfounded as I had been Friday night from 10 - 11:04pm albeit for completely different reasons.  Instead of bidding I started surfing the web while the auctioneer droned on in the background.  I was interrupted by a text message alert from scifi.com.  It urged me to visit their store for the newest BSG shirt.  In a classic, "By your command" moment I obediently jumped to the website figuring I could at least console myself with a t-shirt.  It's not the shirt so much as the description that I found enlightening.  I'm going to quote it here in case it gets changed:  Any true Battlestar fan wants one thing and one thing only, to be a member of the 5th Cylon. Here's your chance.  Now any faithful fan is probably doing at least some thinking along these lines but I never expected to see it advertised on a shopping site.  It's a new shirt and, as such, I feel I NEED it but I'm going to hold off a bit and see how things develop over the next couple of episodes.  As much as I love Battlestar Galactica I'm not at all sure I'm ready to claim relation to Ellen Tigh.  If  you, however, are ready for that leap you can buy the shirt here.
